Asthma Check-Up
If you have asthma, you may have symptoms that could be reduced with changes to your medication. If you use an inhaler regularly, it is important to have an annual check-up.
Children taking asthmatic medicines must be assessed annually as their inhalers may need to change as they grow.
Please book an appointment with our Practice Nurse and remember to bring your inhalers with you to your appointment.

Child Health & Immunisation
The clinic is run by a Health Visitor/Public Health Nurse each Tuesday morning. You will receive a letter from the Practice detailing your child's immunisation appointment schedule.

Newborn Screening
The Northern Ireland Newborn Blood Spot Screening Programme (NBSP) offers all newborn babies a blood spot screening test to identify if they are at increased risk of rare, but serious, inherited conditions. Additional information about the screening programme can be found in this leaflet:
Influenza Vaccination
Influenza vaccinations are usually available from October. Patients over 65, Patients under 65 with a chronic illness i.e. Diabetes, Asthma and COPD, Heart Disease, Liver Disease, Kidney Disease, Impaired immunity, Carers registered with the surgery and Pregnant Women will be contacted to book an appointment at one of our designated flu clinics. Ask Reception for details from 1st September.
Cervical Screening
It is recommended that all female patients between the ages of 25 and 64 have regular smear tests. We have a system to ensure patients get a letter when your smear is due. Smear tests are carried out by doctors and the Practice Nurse during normal surgery hours. It would be helpful if you could let the Practice know that you are booking an appointment for a smear.
The result of your smear test is posted out to the address we hold for you on computer, unless you tell us otherwise. Results should be received within 4 weeks. If you have not received a letter within 6 weeks, please ring the Practice.
Pregnancy Related Care
The Community Midwifery Team holds clinics for antenatal care. You should make an appointment with a doctor who will refer you to the hospital of your choice through the midwifery team.
Taking folic acid one month prior to conception and for the first three months afterwards is recommended. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
Women should have a vaccine from 16 weeks of pregnancy to protect themselves and their baby from whooping cough (also known as pertussis). This is best given between weeks 16 and 32 of pregnancy but it can still help your baby to receive the vaccination after this period. Please contact the surgery to book an appointment if this applies to you.

You will be invited to attend for a post natal examination at approximately 8 weeks after giving birth. This appointment will coincide with your baby's 8 week assessment with the GP.

Sexual Health Screening
Patients can have a sexual health check without the need for an intimate examination. To find out more, make an appointment with your doctor or Practice Nurse.
Family Planning/Contraceptive Services
A variety of services are available by appointment with a doctor. Please telephone for advice or to book an appointment regarding emergency contraception. For fitting of a coil (IUCD), or a subcutaneous contraceptive implant (Nexplanon), please contact Dr Donaghey. Minor Surgery
The Practice has facilities to carry out minor surgery. Usually you will need to see a doctor before an appointment for this can be made. Please make a routine appointment in the first instance.
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Health Surveillance
All patients between the ages of 16 and 75 who have not attended the surgery in the preceding three years, can request and will receive an appropriate health check.

We provide all the essential services and many of the additional services detailed in the contract. We work within the Quality and Outcomes Framework, which directs us towards evidence based treatment and high standards of care and management. Where possible, we also try to provide additional services for our patients and to respond to public health requests to provide one-off services when required. Where we are unable to provide additional services, it is the responsibility of the Health & Social Care Board to ensure adequate service provision for our patients.
